I've already consumed my fair share of blueberries and the season has only just started. Call me Violet Beauregarde they say - and to whom I am no doubt soon to resemble!* Yes, I even managed to accidentally consume one of the punnets of blueberries reserved for our recipe below (oops!). Thank goodness for the frozen ones I had stashed in the freezer.     These sweet, little, balls of deliciousness are one of few reasons I look forward to Summer (I am NOT a hot weather person - yep,  token weirdo Aussie over here), and despite the fact that... Arghh zucchini (or 'courgette' to our UK friends) - how you have my heart! Yes, the humble zucchini is a definite favourite vegetable of mine, so of course there was no second guessing our choice for the October #sageandseasonal feature.     Zucchini also happens to work like magic in making baked goods (sweet or savoury) deliciously moist,  and after trying a friend's savoury loaf on a recent glamping weekend (you can read all about that one here)...I was super keen to recreate a similar loaf using our beloved zucchini. I also happen to have the recipe for a mean Zucchini... Our seasonal feature for September is none other than the much loved POTATO! Almost everyone I know loves a good potato and they have adorned dinner plates for as long as my brain will compute. Turns out they are quite easy to grow too. Imagine being able to traipse outside, harvest a few spuds and then make some delicious chunky wedges, seasoned with coarse salt and rosemary of course. Mmmm...drooling.   What I really love about good 'ol potatoes is how versatile they are. Different varieties serve best for different cooking methods. I love this little 'Poh's Kitchen Guide', it's... [ READ MORE ]

Our seasonal feature for August, is KALE KALE KALE, the vegetable that appears to be flavour of the month or really the flavour of the past few years, Mr. Popular indeed. Let’s be honest though it’s not exactly an instant mouth party. No, we actually picked kale for this month because Natasha is convinced it tastes like ass or in her words ‘farts’, but I’ve reassured her it doesn’t have too. Copius amounts of butter and two types of cheese later, and I think I might just sway her towards giving kale a little love. What about you? Are you... [ READ MORE ]

This post marks the very first in a new monthly ‘Sage and Seasonal’ column on the TAS blog. We’ve joined forces with uber talented green thumb and all-round vegetable enthusiast, Natasha Grogan from The Sage Garden, to bring you a monthly feature on a particular fruit or vegetable that happens to be in season. Natasha will be giving us some tips on how you can grow it (irrespective of your gardening prowess- or if you’re like me, definite lack of!) and I will be cooking up something tasty with it, because fruits and vegies ain’t got to be boring. It’s... [ READ MORE ]
